Once Upon A Child opens another central Pa. store

Once Upon A Child has opened a new store in Lancaster County.

The children’s clothing and accessories resale retailer opened on Aug. 10 at 896 Plaza Blvd. in Manheim Township.

The store sells affordable, gently used children’s clothes, shoes, toys and equipment among other items.

“I really admire the resale aspect of Once Upon A Child and the environmental issues it helps alleviate. By allowing parents to bring in their gently used clothing for resale, we are able to shy away from the fast-fashion industry and offer parents a more sustainable way to shop,” Co-owner Yvonne Rantz said in a news release.

Once Upon A Child does not require appointments and pays on the spot for items it purchases from customers.

“Once Upon A Child’s unique retail resale concept allows for clothing, toys and accessories for kids to end up in someone else’s house rather than thrown into a landfill, providing a resource for new or existing parents who are looking to update their children’s closet on a budget and in a mindful environmental manner,” the company said in the news release.

The store is open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The store is owned by Rantz and Chris Pawlowski. The owners are partnering with Hope Rescue Mission in Berks County to give away any clothing items or accessories that are not sold after a certain period of time to those who are experiencing homelessness.

Once Upon A Child has around 400 franchised stores in the United States and Canada including a location in Susquehanna Township. The company is owned by Winmark, which also franchises Play It Again Sports, Plato’s Closet, Style Encore and Music Go Round.
